Grand View Gansey Sweater
Pattern only - $8
Kit with yarn included - $97
Becky has designed a Gansey sweater using our worsted weight yarn. It is perfect for wearing while doing chores on a cool morning yet classy enough to wear on an evening out. Traditionally, Gansey sweaters were knit by fisherman villages. Each village had their own unique motif knit into their sweaters. Patterns were passed from one generation to the next to signify which village the fishermen were from. The tightly knitted stitches provided a hard wearing, warm sweater which would ward off the cold of the ocean spray.
Our farm, Grand View Farm, sits high on a Vermont hillside. The winter winds and snow blow fiercely. Becky has designed our Grand View Gansey sweater for our rugged winter conditions yet maintaining a stylish look with modern shaping. The sweater is knit in silvery gray, in an elegant diamond pattern with a cable stitch running down each sleeve.
This knitting kit comes with five skeins of our lovely Romney Wool Yarn, and the pattern. The pattern comes in a half-page booklet, perfect for slipping into your knitting bag. It is packaged in a brown paper bag with handles. Please indicate if you would like to receive our natural creamy white yarn or our natural gray yarn in your kit.
