| Oct. 10-12 ~ Felting & Felted Collage Learn the technique of wet felting and nuno felting in the morning and then take your felted pieces and create wonderful collage pictures using some machine appliqué. Teachers: Emily Goodling and Laura Perry Emily Goodling of Vermont Fairies Emily loves teaching, studying, and writing about anything fiber art! She has taught beginning felting classes on our farm, at quilt groups, and at summer camps for the past several years. Felting is her favorite medium. Last year, she received a full scholarship to SOAR, a national fiber conference. She hopes to gain her Certificate of Excellence in weaving and hand spinning over the next few years. | Laura Perry Laura has been an art instructor in the UK for more than 10 years and now lives and works in Northfield. Laura received her BSc in Textile Design and Technology from Huddersfield University, UK and her Post Graduate Certificate of Education from Leeds University, UK. Her colorful textile collages have been exhibited in galleries in both Vermont and Great Britain. Laura also teaches at Studio Place Arts in Barre, VT and at Sharon Academy in Sharon, VT. Laura sells her textile collages at the Artisan's Gallery of Vermont in Waitsfield. |
| October 3-5 Shepherd's Weekend Retreat This retreat is geared to those wanting to learn how to prepare wool for spinning and how to spin the fiber into yarn. This is a beginner's introductory class. Meet the sheep and learn to prepare fiber in the morning and begin spinning in the afternoon. Sunday, go apple picking at a local orchard before heading home. Teachers: Kim Goodling & Emily Goodling Kim Goodling of Woolhandcrafts is a shepherd and home school mom. She raises Romney sheep and uses their wool to spin yarn. She has been selling her hand spun and mill spun yarns as well as woven, knitted, and felted items for the past 5 years both online and at local farmer's markets. | Rates and Payment: All rates subject to change without notice. We accept cash, personal checks, travelers checks, and Pay Pal. Payment in full is due upon arrival. Deposit Policy Reservations will be confirmed by a deposit of $150 for Fiber Retreat Weekends. Guests departing before final date of reservation will be billed for entire length of reservation. Local Day Students must confirm reservations with a $50 deposit. Cancellation Policy Fiber Retreat Weekend reservations cancelled 15 days or more prior to arrival date will be refunded less a $15 per room processing fee. Reservations cancelled less than 15 days prior to arrival will forfeit their entire deposit unless their spot in the class can be filled. We reserve the right to cancel classes within 15 days prior to weekend if there are not enough students enrolled. All deposits will then be returned or applied towards another weekend. |
